SYNOPSIS
“Uhuhboo” in Korean is an ironic expression which may mean “the fisherman” or “father of the fish”. Since its debut in 1994, Uhuhboo Project has made a name for itself as one of the most eccentric bands in the Korean contemporary music scene.
Uhuhboo Project’s music is an unconventional mix of sounds and instrumentation (traditional and otherwise). The band’s songs are highly theatrical and the performances are collaborations with artists from other fields such as dance, film, theatre and fine art. The lyrics are difficult to decipher. They can be understood as avant-garde poems, with, at times, almost eerie metaphors about harsh realities.

Through three regular albums and music in many films (including Sympathy For Mr Vengeance), the band has become known for presenting socio-political messages in satirical as well as poetic ways. The band's songs have also been used in German modern dance choreographer Pina Bausch's works Für die Kinder von gestern, heute und morgen (2002), Nefés (2003) and Rough Cut (2005).
In this concert, paper towels will be used to create a minimalist stage design in the midst of modified waltz, tango, polka and trot music as actors perform short plays in a sporadic manner during the band’s performance.
Performed in Korean.
