SYNOPSIS
The voice of a generation is back, alive and most certainly kicking with a new album on a new label.
The tenor with over 10 million album sales and four Classical Brits, who practically invented the classical crossover genre is ready to stun the world again with La Voce.
Recorded in June 2010 with the Roma Sinfonietta - Ennio Morricone’s orchestra of choice – and produced by Mike Hedges, Russell Watson’s voice has never sounded better. The album has been a fixture of the Amazon pre-order chart since the announcement of its release.

Recorded in June 2010 with the Roma Sinfonietta - Ennio Morricone’s orchestra of choice – and produced by Mike Hedges, Russell Watson’s voice has never sounded better. The album has been a fixture of the Amazon pre-order chart since the announcement of its release.
Stronger, more driven and powerful, his renditions of Pino Donaggio’s Io Che Non Vivo (Senza Te), Mario Lanza’s Arrivederci Roma and Parla Piu Piano (the theme from The Godfather) are as impressive as you’d expect from a man singing with, literally, a new lease of life after overcoming two life-threatening brain tumours.
In 2008, when the Salford born tenor finished radiotherapy for the pituitary tumour that saw him undergoing emergency surgery, he decided to embark on a return to music.
In 2008, when the Salford born tenor finished radiotherapy for the pituitary tumour that saw him undergoing emergency surgery, he decided to embark on a return to music.
He soon found that his treatment had given him not just a fresh outlook on the world, but a whole new, deeper, richer voice. “The tumour could have been growing for 10-15 years in my nasal cavity, so when I had it cut out I went from a V8 to a V12!”
Set for release a decade after Classical Brit winning No 1 debut The Voice (2000), La Voce is Watson’s ninth – and most personal – album.
Set for release a decade after Classical Brit winning No 1 debut The Voice (2000), La Voce is Watson’s ninth – and most personal – album.
La Voce is set to be one of the defining albums of 2010. Russell will be performing new and old tracks on a 21-date tour across the UK in the spring of 2011. But prior to that, he’ll sing for his Singapore fans, accompanied by Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus. So get ready to embrace this amazing tenor, who is a changed man in many ways – whether it’s the way he sings or how he feels about life.
